Google has acknowledge the issue and is working on a fix:

Since last Friday, February 7th 2025, local business owners worldwide are seeing (in shock) how their 5 star reviews counters drop, dragging their ratings down with them.

This issue is affecting businesses form all the world, and “deleting” only 5-star reviews in several sweeps.

This business has “lost” 605 five-star reviews in the last 3 days

After 72h seeing the panic this has caused, this is what we know so far:

What’s Happening?

While it might look like you lost valuable customer feedback and star ratings, rest assured—it’s just a glitch in Google’s review counter.

Google seems to have experienced a technical hiccup that prevents some 5-star reviews from showing in the total. The good news is that the reviews are still there on Google’s servers; they just aren’t being correctly counted in the visible tally on your Google Business Profile.

What Should You Do?

Why It Matters

For restaurant owners and local businesses, 5-star reviews help build trust and drive foot traffic. They can be a major factor in deciding where customers dine or shop. If your Google Business Profile is displaying fewer reviews than usual, it might affect how new customers perceive your establishment.

Your reputation is vital—hang in there while Google sorts this out.
